The first step in the remodeling process is for the homeowner to decide on the specific details of the project – including the layout, the finishes and the color scheme. The first thing to look for in a GC is professionalism. Their’s is a serious business and deserves to be treated as such. Timeliness, organization and accuracy are paramount. If they cannot accomplish this task while simply bidding on a project, how are they going to do so when the real work begins?

The best GCs will arrive promptly on time, be properly prepared with all of their paperwork and follow-up on their bid in a timely manner. As a potential client, you should settle for nothing less.

Once you settle on which GC you will use, it is essential to check their credentials. Not only should you check with the local references that they provide but also inquire about their licensing, bonding and insurance. A call to the Fulton County Better Business Bureau also does no harm. These is common sense advice but some that many consumers fail to heed.
